Sandburg Basketball Teams to Open Region IV Tourneys This Week at Home

Both Carl Sandburg College basketball teams will kick off postseason play this week on their home court.
The Sandburg women’s team (13-13), which has won four in a row and seven of its last nine, earned the No. 3 seed in the Region IV Division II District L tournament and will host sixth-seeded Morton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in a quarterfinal matchup. The teams did not face each other during the regular season.
The Chargers men’s squad grabbed the No. 4 seed in the Region IV Division II District 4 tournament and will take on No. 5 seed McHenry County at 7 p.m. Thursday at home. The Chargers (20-7), who picked up a 69-45 victory at McHenry County on Dec. 9, have won four in a row and eight of their last nine to clinch a second straight 20-win season.
The semifinals (March 2 for women and March 3 for men) and championship games (March 9) for each tournament will take place in Sugar Grove on the campus of Waubonsee Community College.
